Philippe de Lorraine is the second son of the Comte and Comtess of Harcourt. His father, Henri de Lorraine, was created the Count of Harcourt in 1605, aged 4. He is nicknamed Cadet la Perle and the was Grand Squire of France. His mother, Marguerite-Philippe du Cambout, was a member of the old House of Cambout who traced their ancestry back to the Sovereign Dukes of Brittany.

He has an older brother, Louis de Lorraine and a older sister Armande Henriette, abbesse de Soissons. As well as younger brothers, Alfonse Louis abbé de Royaumont called the chevalier d'Harcourt, Raimond Bérenger abbé de Faron de Meaux, and Charles vicomte de Marsan.

Philippe is fully aware of his good looks, his dark hair and hazel eyes, his slender yet muscular body. Androgyne. With a bit of make up and in a pretty gown, he would make every lady at court jealous, but he prefers to play a different game with them. A game not so different from the games the ladies play. Philippe has a reputation for flirting, shamelessly at times, with both genders. He doesn't care, it amuses him in fact. Why just have one thing when one could have both?
Yet, the chevalier is rather picky, not with whom he flirts, but with who he allows to share his bed. There have been some, and once there was a special one which changed everything, which made him how he is now... but this is a different story.

It is true, when he wants something he does everything that is necessary to achieve his goal, without remorse. He has no scruple to use all possible actions, simple intrigue, destroying a reputation, destroying a life. His appearance and the innocent air he carefully keeps, make it easy for him. His opponents usually don't know what happens until the are ruined.



Now, Philippe is a member of Monsieur's household. He attends the Prince in his salons, and joins him where ever he goes as it is expected of a Chevalier d'honneur. Philippe enjoys the court life, if he don't attends the Prince, he is up to some sort of mischief with the so called “court youth”. Gambling, drinking and flirting, pulling the strings in the shadow.
